Of the Winds

Be mindful love and watchful love,

For now the winds are blowing low.

On the wings of the raven and wings of the dove,

The friendly winds become the foe.

But I will hold you close and hold you warm,

Far from where the winds do bite.

And we shall never fear the gale or storm,

            Where our love does alight.

TheNorth wind blows, and the sun does die,

From Winter’s grasp and icy hell.

The mothers shall weep and all the lovers shall cry

Sadness is brought to all who dwell.

But I will hold you close and hold you warm,

Far from where the winds do bite.

And we shall never fear the gale or storm,

            Where our love does alight.

From fickle East, faith and treason

Brings forth magic kind and magic cruel.

Unknown to all reason and lost to all season

Wonders and terrors e’er shall duel.

But I will hold you close and hold you warm,

Far from where the winds do bite.

And we shall never fear the gale or storm,

            Where our love does alight.

The South does hiss and strike one down

Like the sword bright drawn from the sheath

The cannons’ fire make bold, the drums of all war,

Catch us all ‘til we’re far beneath

But I will hold you close and hold you warm,

Far from where the winds do bite.

And we shall never fear the gale or storm,

            Where our love does alight.

Drinking and laughing Western air

Springs forth in happy melody

Made light is the burden of light free and fair

Hope drunk transforms to majesty.

There I will hold you close and hold you warm,

Far from where the winds do bite.

And we shall never fear the gale or storm,

            Where our love does alight.
